Full Bio:

Madeline began practicing yoga at the age of 17 to help manage pain from a life of competitive dance. As an athlete, there was always a strong connection to the signals from her body—even if she didn’t always pay attention to them. Movement was once a punishment, and physical activity didn’t feel meaningful unless she woke up sore the next day. Exercise was a way to earn rest, not as a way to find connection. However, through her nearly 15-year journey with yoga, Madeline has found that stillness, slow movement, and focusing on a connection to her breath have allowed her not only to find physical relief from chronic pain, but also to manage anxiety, depression, and the anger that can come from day-to-day life. As a teacher, Madeline emphasizes the importance of alignment while honoring where each student is at. While yoga was not always the “easiest” choice, it is the one that consistently allows Madeline to find connection with herself and those in her community. Madeline’s classes are known for long holds, deep breaths, and thoughtful sequencing. When she is not at the studio, Madeline is often playing board games or spending time in her garden. In addition to teaching, Madeline is a talk therapist, and undoubtedly this work informs her approach as a yoga practitioner.
